However, with email, you can communicate with people around the world professionally. It is the most acceptable way of sending massages between individuals and organizations. You can send your resume and curriculum vitae to your employer. You can order by email in some countries, etc. Importance of email cannot be overemphasized.
In this lesson, you are going to learn:
- how to sign in to your gmail account
- how to compose and send email
- how to sign out from your email account.

Sending Email Using Gmail Account:
When you first create gmail account, you will be automatically signed in. However, I will recommend that you always sign in to your account and sign out when you’re done with it. Signing out is very important, especially if you’re using a shared computer, such as computers in library, hospital, office etc, because signing out prevents others from viewing your emails.
Signing in to Your Gmail Account:
Signing in gives you access to your account. This also makes Gmail identifies you as the real owner of the account. It is simply providing your email address (example, someone@gmail.com) and password in the signing in form. To sign in, follow these steps:
Note: Make sure you have internet connection.
Step 1: Open your favorite browser and type www.gmail.com in the address bar, then hit Enter key on your keyboard.

Step 2: Type your username (your email address) and click next.

Step 3: Type your password, then click Sign in.

Compose and Send Email:
The reason for creating email is to send messages. To start conversation, follow this steps:
Step 1: Click on compose button at the top-right corner.

Step 2: Type the address of the recipient in the To field.
Step 3: Type the title of the message in the Subject field.
Step 4: Type the message in the body, this is the widest area between the Subject field and Send button.
Step 5: Read and make correction of possible typing errors. Then click Send button to send your mail.

Hooray! You make it!!
Now you realize that sending email is simple. As I told you earlier, whenever you finish what you are doing with your email account you should sign out. So, let’s sign out to keep our account safe from unauthorized access.
Sign out:
At the top-right corner of the page, locate the circle that has your first name, but if you’ve already selected an image, it will show the image instead. To sign out, click the circle and select Sign out.
